NGSES2012 will take place from June 25th to June 29th in the Bernadin Hotels and Convention Centre in Portoroz on the Slovenian Riviera. A twenty-minute walk along the waterfront will bring you to the charming old town of Piran with its many little streets, buzzing restaurants, and beautiful sunsets.

Most participants have booked rooms in the Vile Park, which is composed by several villas (marked A -E) spread over the area. They use some of the facilities of the hotel Histrion (Nr 2, just below the Venetian tower), for example you will have breakfast there and you will check-in at their reception.

The conference will take place in the Grand Hotel (Nr 1 on the map, up left), the talks will be given in the “Mediterranea” lecture hall, the posters and coffee breaks in the  “Adria” hall.

On Sunday from 18 to 19 we have a short welcome drink on the “Grand Garden” terrace.

On Wednesday afternoon we will have an excursion to the Postojna caves, where the temperature can be significantly lower than in Portoroz. Please bring a sweather and closed shoes.

How to get there 

Portoroz is within easy reach from several international airports (one hour from Ljubljana and Trieste and two hours from Venice). We have organized a shuttle service from these three airports to the conference venue for arrival and departure. When planning your travel please keep in mind that Venice is quite a long drive, which might require additional time in case of traffic jams etc. Please also consider reasonable arrival and departure times.
